Opened in spring 2011, Olympic Vista in Victoria is a three-storey housing facility that provides studio apartments to 36 older adults who are either homeless, or are at-risk-of-homelessness. Olympic Vista is a part of the 2010 Olympic legacy projects. CitySpaces coordinated the site planning, development approvals, and design and construction processes.
Operated by Victoria Cool Aid Society, the land is leased from the Capital Regional Hospital District for 60 years at a nominal fee.  Olympic Vista is a peaceful building with accessibility features for those with mobility issues. The facility offers 24-hour staffing, a sunny courtyard, raised-bed gardens, a meeting and dining room full of natural light, and spacious single-occupancy rooms complete with kitchenette and private bathroom

Mount View Heights Plan
Olympic Vista is a component of the overall redevelopment plan for Mount View Heights. The plan includes:

  • Approximately 400 residential units for seniors in a “Campus of Care” setting that provides a continuum of independent, assisted and acute care facilities in four, six and seven-storey buildings
  • Vergo Townhouses
  • Olympic Vista Apartments
  • A neighbourhood park (0.54 hectare/1.3 acres)
  • A seven-storey residential, or office, building

Olympic Legacy Projects
Olympic Vista is the result of an agreement between the Province and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) to reconfigure temporary modular housing from the Whistler Athletes’ Village. The modular housing was relocated and converted into 156 permanent, affordable rental homes in six communities across B.C. including Enderby, Sechelt, Surrey, Chilliwack, Chetwynd and Olympic Vista apartments in Saanich, Victoria.
