As CitySpace’s Senior Engagement Specialist, Anja brings over 11-years’ experience in facilitation, extensive social research training, and a creative approach to engagement. Her expertise lays in culturally specific and multilingual contexts, having facilitated workshops in cross-cultural communication and conducted survey research on conservation practices in the historic centre of Umag, Croatia – a national heritage site.
Anja enjoys bringing creative, design-thinking approaches to her practice. With educational backgrounds in language teaching and Indigenous studies, she is sensitive towards creating culturally-relevant engagement that empowers participants. In 2020 Anja received the Centre for Oral History’s Award of Excellence for her research-creation work 'Alley Atlas', which used engagement methods and creative mapping to show place attachment in a Montreal alleyway. She extends this creative lens to her public artwork, through which she works with various municipalities.
