The Village of Lytton engaged CitySpaces to prepare a seniors housing needs assessment to better understand local housing issues and specifically the housing challenges experienced by the aging population. As part of the seniors housing needs assessment, our team:
- Researched housing indicators, including current housing mix, tenure, rental prices, resale values, and seniors household income. We undertook an affordability analysis and identified gaps along the seniors housing continuum.
- Issued a survey to understand housing issues from local observations and perspectives.
- Facilitated key informant interviews with community stakeholders.
Overall, findings from our seniors' housing needs assessment indicate there is a need and demand for independent seniors rental housing in Lytton.
Our CitySpaces team worked closely with the Village and the Age-Friendly Seniors Housing Committee to assemble findings that can be utilized in future initiatives including informing a future feasibility study and business plan for an independent seniors housing project.
